The useful question is which attendance method fits your employees, entrance and reporting routine. A long feature list cannot replace a demonstration with representative users at the intended location. Start with the workflow, then shortlist an exact device and configuration.
Compare the daily interaction
A fingerprint system asks a person to present an enrolled finger. A face system checks an enrolled face within the selected terminal's supported operating conditions. Fingerprint systems may suit a controlled check-in point; face systems may suit a contactless routine. Neither description establishes how a particular model will perform at your site.
Ask employees with different working conditions to take part in the demonstration. Work involving dust, moisture or worn fingerprints can affect the choice of enrolment method. For face devices, assess the intended mounting position, lighting and the way users approach the terminal. Confirm the manufacturer's environmental limits instead of assuming every device is suitable outdoors.
Test the busy period
Headcount and peak arrival rate are different. Fifty people arriving over an hour creates a different queue from fifty arriving together. Map the arrival window, available space and any need for separate entry and exit points. Observe verification attempts and failed attempts during the demonstration, then agree whether another terminal or a different layout is appropriate.
Check enrolment and an approved alternative
Confirm who can enrol staff, whether templates can be moved between the selected devices and how an employee unable to use the main method is handled. Card, PIN or another verification route depends on the model and configuration. Do not assume that every face or fingerprint terminal supports the same alternatives.
Keep the reporting requirements separate
The attendance method does not define payroll integration. Both approaches still need stable employee identifiers, supported record collection, agreed shifts and reviewed exception reports. Test your actual software route and export format before rollout. Our attendance and payroll checklist explains what to prepare.
Build a shortlist from the real catalogue
- Fingerprint attendance devices: compare capacity, communications and the exact verification options.
- Face recognition terminals: check installation conditions, capacity and supported software.
- K30PRO: a specific fingerprint model to assess against your brief.
- MB160: review the listed face and fingerprint functions and confirm optional configurations.
Use the same acceptance checklist for both
Ask each supplier to demonstrate enrolment, normal verification, a failed attempt, record collection and a sample report. Also check behaviour during an agreed power or network interruption. Record included licences, accessories, training and maintenance terms so the quotations cover comparable scopes.
Collect only the employee information needed for an approved pilot and have your organisation define access and retention. A general quotation enquiry needs approximate numbers and workflow details, rather than biometric templates or employee records.
