Entry control for 14 student hostels at IIT Madras, Chennai, installed from August to October 2026: eSSL SB-ES-3216 swing barrier lanes with face recognition terminals and an SB-TL-129 P-gate at every hostel entrance, and eSSL boom barriers at the vehicle gates.

Controlled entry for every student hostel.

Smart Bio Nexus installed eSSL entrance control across the student hostels of IIT Madras in Chennai. Between August and October 2026, each hostel entrance received eSSL SB-ES-3216 and SB-ES-3216-2 swing barrier lanes with face recognition terminals mounted at the lanes, so only registered residents pass through, plus an eSSL SB-TL-129 P-gate beside the lanes. Hostel vehicle gates received eSSL boom barriers.

The installation was carried out by Smart Bio Nexus as the installation partner for Core Technologies, Karnataka.

What was installed

eSSL SB-ES-3216 and SB-ES-3216-2 swing barriers at the hostel entrances, with lit lane indicators for clear direction at night.
Face recognition terminals on posts at each lane for hands-free resident entry.
An eSSL SB-TL-129 P-gate in every hostel, beside the lanes, for luggage, bicycles and accessible entry.
eSSL boom barriers at the hostel vehicle gates, including Cauvery Hostel.
